Travel Information

Of all capital cities, few have better, more convenient communication links than Cardiff. Easily accessible by road, rail, coach or by air, it couldn’t be easier to plan your visit to the Welsh capital.

By Road

From the M4 Westbound:

Approach Cardiff on the M4. Leave at junction 29- Cardiff East & South. Continue on the A48(M) until the exit signed Cardiff & Docks A4232 - Take this exit and stay in dedicated left lane. Follow the signs to the City Centre A4161. At the next roundabout, turn right to City Centre under the flyover along Newport Road for 2 miles. Under the railway bridge, turn left past Queen St Railway Station and continue on the left to the next set of traffic lights. For rear access, turn left to the Security lodge, which is 100 yards on your right. For front access, cross over at the lights - and take the third turning on your left into Mary Ann Street - CIA is on your left - Jurys Hotel on your right.

Alternative route from the M4 (either East or Westbound):

Leave the M4 at Junction 33 - take A4232 - signs to Barry Island and Cardiff Docks. Carry on the road for approximately 10 miles through the tunnel and turn left at the next roundabout. Bear right at the next roundabout along the dual carriageway to the traffic lights. Turn left at the traffic lights - keep in the right hand lane and go under the railway bridge. Turn right at the next set of lights - CIA front entrance is on the right in Mary Ann Street.

Please note:

There is a toll charge of £5.40* for cars travelling Westbound on the M4 at the Severn Bridge. Higher charges apply for large vehicles. Payment can only be made in cash.

By Rail/Coach

Cardiff International Arena is 4 minutes walk from Cardiff Central Bus and Rail Stations Paddington, (London) to Cardiff is just 2 hours via Intercity, with trains departing hourly Direct rail and coach services are available from Liverpool, Manchester, Nottingham, Birmingham and the South East

By Air

Cardiff International Airport is only 20 minutes drive from the city centre Taxis and express bus services are available for visitors from the airport to the city centre Scheduled flights are available from the UK and many European cities Cardiff
